I was sort of struck by the Theresa Ducan and Jeremy Blake suicides of 2007 and came across this New York Magazine piece two years after the fact. It will haunt you, but it's worth a read, if only for the apt contrasting between life in Los Angeles and life in New York. The awful part of this is the comments, where someone reveals that a film is being made about them––by none other than Milk's Gus Van Sant and novelist Bret Easton Ellis––based on a Vanity Fair article about the pair called "The Golden Suicides." The irony is that the failure of any studios to make Duncan's film Alice Underground is what led her into a fatal spiral.
